Ponderosa Timber & Hardware was established in 1959 by the Dwyer family. It was the first business to treat timber in South East Victoria. In the 1990’s Ponderosa Timber & Hardware ceased treating timber at Kooweerup due to environmental restraints. In 1996 an association was formed with Gippsland Treated Pine of Morwell to supply quality treated pine products.
In March 2000 the Heywood family, owners of Gippsland Treated Pine, purchased Ponderosa Timber & Hardware.
After 10 years of trading the family started plans to build a brand new store which was completed at the end of 2011. The brand new premises is right next door and features a drive-through trade area, ample parking, much larger hardware store and expanded product range. Still on Station Street in Kooweerup, next to Woolworths.
Kooweerup is located approximately 70kms South-East of Melbourne and 25kms from Cranbourne in the Shire of Cardinia. The region was founded on marshland and converted into the prosperous farming region that it is today. Kooweerup is the largest asparagus growing region in Australia.
Orders can be arranged over the phone for pick up or delivery to the local area can be arranged also. Delivery can be arranged quickly and we will do our best to get your order to you as soon as possible.
Trading Hours during the week are 7am-5pm with the store also open Saturday morning from 8am-1.30pm.
The store has EFTPOS facilities and accept credit card payments over the phone. Cash and cheque are also accepted.
